It’s that time of year again! We are proud to launch our third and FINAL #NoMomLeftBehind fundraising campaign for Mother’s Day. This year we are partnering with Dandelion Africa to help reduce maternal death in Kenya, where 1 in of 42 women die during childbirth. Why Dandelion?Dandelion Africa is an NGO based in Mogotio, Rift Valley, Kenya that believes in equity and equal opportunity in all aspects of life. Dandelion’s comprehensive healthcare model includes HIV counseling, testing and medication, immunizations, and family planning services. The new facility that #NoMomLeftBehind is raising money for will allow the community access to reproductive health services, including delivery and neonatal care.Dandelion Africa raises advocates for underserved communities and drives involvement in creating sustainable solutions to improve governance, opportunity for education, sexual reproductive health and economic livelihoods for women, girls and youth in marginalized areas.Dandelion Executive Director, Wendo Aszed says it best, “The dandelion plant is not only stubborn, it represents resilience, it is medicinal, beautiful and everything women represent. When women face adversity we always have the ability to grow somewhere else, even in the most unlikely of places.”Kenya needs your help.Currently, there is only 1 doctor for every 60,000 residents in the area. In Kenya, 60% of women deliver at home. With the addition of the maternity ward, funded through #NoMomLeftBehind 2018, the instances of maternal and infant mortality attributed to at home deliveries and lack of necessary facilities will be reduced. Together we can make a difference. The past two years, the #NoMomLeftBehind campaign funded the construction of the Adabawere Maternity ward in Togo, West Africa as well as the renovation of three additional health clinics. Facility-based births in Togo increased from 33 percent to 85 percent, saving hundreds of lives in the process. With your donation to #NoMomLeftBehind, mothers and children in Kenya will have access to the healthcare they deserve. CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT!
