ACCESS | Community Clinic/Pharmacy
Location: UGANDA
About the Facility:
Currently under construction, this two-story medical facility will serve as a comprehensive community clinic (preventative care, primary care, family planning, maternity care, minor surgery and trauma care, referral, mental health care), as well as a medical training facility for our nursing students at ACCESS Health Training Institute. The proposed building will house clinical staff office, clinical exam and treatment rooms, a laboratory, a maternity ward, short-stay medical ward, and community pharmacy.
This project is in direct response to the needs of the community as well as the request of local district leadership. ACCESS plans to expand the clinic to be able to provide services for maternal child health care, expand the outpatient department to include prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV(PMCTC), inclusion of a laboratory center for investigations as well as a radiology diagnostic center which will serve the district and surrounding areas.
Why …?
The facility is located in a rural area that has had limited access to healthcare. It has also been impacted by HIV/AIDS.
